In the history of sailing, many ships have met their demise.  And that still happens today.  There are many dangers at sea  and as the popular saying goes,  "The sea is your friend as long as your ship is in one piece."  If you're without a ship,  it doesn't matter how durable your lifeboat is,  you're not safe.  A lifeboat may save you from grave danger,  but it can't protect you for long.  A lifeboat cannot protect you forever.  Most of the time, even lifeboats cannot help people escape from the sea's dangers.  And quite often, the sinking ship takes the entire crew down with it.  There have been many instances,  but if I were to mention famous ones: there's the Titanic,  her sister ship Brittanic,  S.S. Carpathia, responsible for rescuing the Titanic survivors.  Costa Concordia. There are among the most popular ones....

Assalamualaykum , and welcome back to Life In Ships And Oceans.  On the 14th of January 2022 in Tonga,  houses and trees fell to the ground.  Around 84,000 of their population  or around 80% of Tonga's population was affected.  There was suddenly a shortage of drinking water,  all communication resources were cut off.  Tonga's government declared an emergency until 13th February.  This all happened because of a tsunami.  One that left the ocean  and destroyed Tonga.  If the volcano that caused the tsunami  had erupted on land,  it could've turned into possibly the worst catastrophe in humanity.  While it was a good thing the volcano erupted in the Pacific  But it ended up affecting Tonga.  The volcano is called Hunga Ha'apai.  If I'm not pronouncing the word right, I obviously don't know how to pronounce it.  So please forgive me for that.  This is an active volcano.  This means that...

  Assalamualaykum, and welcome back to life in ships and sea .   If we study all the world's professions  among the ones that date way back  in history is probably the Merchant Navy profession.  The Merchant Navy profession dates back many years,  like if we take Hazrat Nooh 's (AS) ark for example  so from his time onwards, I think  the Merchant Navy has seen a lot of progress  First, this used to be carried out in smaller ships.  People would travel by rivers if you've heard about the Pyramids of Egypt  they would transport huge granite rocks through the River Nile  on little ships.  The world moved forward, then came sailing.  Instead of oars -  in fact, ships were considered vessels  since they were a bit bigger at that point in time.  So, instead of oars, they started using sails.  The sails would use winds to work.  And with the help of winds, ships would  travel from one territory ...
