Hello ..... Yeah ......
Has it changed the track?
it's path is intersecting vessel's track !!
Slow Down... Slow Down... Slow Down... I'll Just come up on the bridge and see...
Don't worry ... Don't worry ... I am coming up on the bridge .. Thank You...
2nd officer has received new weather update ..
There was a tropical Storm that was about to hit phillipines..
According to new update this storm is aggravating instead of slowing down ...
after hitting Philippines...
2nd officer was worried a bit .... Let's go ...
Today I will show you that if there's a TRS, how do we avoid it?
By the way, if you feel the frame of this shot rolling a bit, it's because Camera is on a Gimbal...
Gimbal is trying to keep camera aligned Flat with Earth's surface ..
As the ship is rolling slightly, Gimbal is trying hard to keep the Camera aligned...
So the Gimbal is rolling with the Roll movement of ship...
I'll Show you everything today...
What's the name of this TRS? .... VONG FONG????
This is tropical revolving Storm VONG FONG ..
This is the spot where it formed ... To the East of Malaysia .. Philippines .. Sorry ...
The life is Philippines is tough man! Every Year some storm hits them... Every Year ...
Almost every year a storm is hitting them ...
Okay.. now we have already delayed the vessel for about 4 hours... is that going to affect?
Just a little bit.... not much ...
[Looking at Weather] I mean this is the interval between two positions... 3 hours and three hours ...
So........
Right now storm is at our beam... exactly.. at beam ...
& this is the wind direction, swell 1.2 meter and sea 0.2 meter...
& This position is probably the closest we're getting to the storm ....
What we can do is ... Right now we are running at 67 RPM Correct ...
Increase the Engine RPM to 72, until we clear this storm ... Speeding up is a wiser decision ....
Just Call Engine Room, Inform them of this and increase the RPM to 72 ...
These circle are showing the ship's track ... and this is the Storm ...
At this point the storm hits Philippines and this is position of our ship...
At this point we're going to be closest to the storm... we'll probably experience 1.1 meter of swell ...
It's not that bad,,, we have seen worse...
Do you guys know that what is meant by presence of seagulls close to Ship? .... See this one right here ...
Their presence indicates close proximity of Land... and yes there is an island close-by...
It's a Japanese Island, it's not only quite small but there are clouds too ...
That's why we cannot see it... it's a little hazy too ...
The wind speed is increasing ...
Swell and wave height is increasing too ..
as there is Storm ahead .. it's been named VONG FONG ...
[ Sea Shipping On Deck ]
16th May 2020ZZ
Intensity of this storm has reduced ...
But now we're going to experience aftereffects of this TRS tomorrow...
But hopefully not that much ... That's a good news ...
That's why we increased our speed... to get clear of this area as soon as possible....
I was expecting bit of rolling today ... you can observe Camera rolling on Gimbal...
The ship is definitely rolling but thankfully not that much as I expected ...
It's much better ...
Right here in the centre it is raining ...
All this place that you guys see .... This is Taiwan Mainland ...
This is the country of Taiwan ...
This slight up and down movement of vessel's bow is because of swell that we are experiencing ...
So now we will experience a swell of 0.9 meters, that's good. Crew will be comfortable...
at 1.2 meter swell the vessel would roll more ...
Some of them experience sea sickness, that means they vomit and feel giddy all the time ...
You feel like you're heavily sedated and you feel giddy... quite a lot ...
That in turn causes them to throw up...
This doesn't happen to everyone.... with few it happens a lot ...
Dome have mild sea sickness ... Others don't feel it at all ...
So it depends from person to person ...
This side of the ocean is Pacific Ocean ...
The islands of Hawaii and Japanese Islands are on this Side...
You guys must be hoping to see the vessel roll .. you might want to experience it ...
We really get rattled when this actually happens ...
[ Old Clip when my Ship Was Surrounded by a storm ]
17th May 2020
Today was the day when we were supposed to encounter the swell ..
But Guess what, There is No Swell....
The actions we took were quite fruitful...
If you have have a look at VONG FONG now ...
Initially it weakened as it hit the Philippines ....
because it wasn't able to feed on Hot and Humid air ... That weakened it ...
Now it has crossed Philippines...
Ant it is supposed to affect us just a little ... But's it not really doing so ...
This is our Ship.. This is VONG FONG..
We should be encountering a swell of 1.2 meter... but can you see from which direction will it affect?
it's affecting us from behind... so vessel won't roll.
in fact it is good for us, our speed has increased ...
Swell is basically pushing us towards Singapore...
We took the action in time... 2 days ago, looking at the predicted track of storm ...
we sped up and hence we completely avoided the worst effects of storm that we could've encountered...
We got a little bit of rolling on the first two days... If you remember the camera was also slightly rolling on Day 1 ..
The camera frame also rolled a bit... But alhamdulillah we were saved from the worst ...
[Lloyd - ACO] We planned and took actions well in advance ...
That's why we didn't have much affect of the TRS at all.. Otherwise we'd be inside the TRS and she'd be rolling like crazy...
Wind speed was crazy fast... it was 115 knots right ... 135??? 135 Knots... That's a lot ...
Yes... initially it was very strong ...
All in all ... we avoided the worst and it is supporting us now....
You won't be seeing any seagulls today, as the land is not close-by...
You won't be able to see big waves too cause storms has already passed ...
As they say .. it's so quite after a storm is over... this is same "QUITE" after Storm...
I can't even spot any clouds... There are a few on this side...
Rest is almost all clear....
In fact today it feels a little hot too ...
Because we went to Dalian, Taiwan, Close to Japan ... All of them are cold areas...
I think we're used to that cold weather... so it might feel hot even if it's usual weather ...
There are no waves, no Swell, the Sea is completely peaceful ... Completely ....
So as You have been hearing that there is absolute CALM before and after a Storm ... This is that.....
I just wanted to show you guys what actions can we take..... We have the option to speed up and pass ahead of Storm ...
Or we can drop speed and let the storm pass ahead of us....
For 2 days it was a little discomfort...
But thankfully it wasn't that bad ... as we'd initially thought...
